The downhill on generally loose scree is strenuous, but the majestic, wild and rugged beauty is rewarding.”
On 20 December 2009 Viet Adventure took 75 participants to climb the Black Virgin Mountain in Tay Ninh Province, the closest mountain to the buoyant Ho Chi Minh City. This adventure hike sponsored by the natural juices Le Fruit was a challenging trek rich in history, wildlife, rugged terrain and countless rocky stairs. This short challenge trek took the climbers - aged from 6 to 70 years old - across the breadth of rugged and exciting ascent, summiting at 982m. One competitor started to count the stairs made of the local black rocks, but stopped at 200… It was worth the stiff climb to the top of the stairs to discover the traditional and colourful Cao Dai Pagoda tastefully decorated. The ascent followed in an outstanding landscape of bush land and finished with exposed scrambling where a Via Ferrata was installed. The downhill on generally loose scree was strenuous, but the majestic, wild and rugged beauty was rewarding.

We propose a 25km mountain bike race for the most courageous on difficult off-road terrain before climbing up the Black Virgin Mountain.
Social contribution:
With the benefits made from this adventure hike Viet Adventure will finance the cleaning of the mountain, so that the Black Mountain will remain ‘Virgin’. We are welcoming all the volunteers ready to join forces mid-December to help rid the mountain from trash and debris.
Results:
The young Ezra Szvoboda (16 years old) led the trail run and arrived first, still smiling, after almost two hours of ultra run on craggy trails. He was followed by the even younger athlete Simon Art (13 years old). Finally all the hikers met for a chilled out meal before their return journey home. And a participant commented ‘it was my first time hiking, it was great and so beautiful. I’ll definitely be back next year’.
